Music, art, food, and fun return to Mill City when the community welcomes the River City Music and Art Jamboree, sponsored by the North Santiam Chamber of Commerce and Santiam Hearts to Arts, August 5 and 6.
After a two-year hiatus following the devastating wildfires and the Covid pandemic, the event, featuring a talented selection of musicians and artisans, will celebrate the resilience of the Santiam Canyon, its residents, and communities
The event opens at noon on Friday, August 5, in Mill City’s Kimmel Park on the banks of the beautiful Santiam River. Visitors can enjoy food provided by local vendors, craft and fine art booths, demonstrations, and children’s activities. Live music at the North Santiam Eagle’s beer garden’s Main Stage begins at 1:00 p.m. with the Renee Hill Band. Cascade Rye performs at 3:30 and Syco Billys closes the evening starting at 7:00 p.m.
On Saturday, August 6, activities continue beginning at 10 a.m. The Santiam Community Chorus performs in the River Shelter at 1:00 p.m., singing music honoring performers and composers who died between 2010 and 2020. Joining the chorus will be a barbershop quartet, and other special guests including soprano Esther Jones, Devin Desmond, flautist Alice Patterson and Laura and Dave Erikson. On the Main Stage, Twisted Blue performs from 3:00-6:00 p.m. and the Canyon All Stars headline from 7:00-10:00 p.m.
Featured artists include painter Jan Miller, glass artist Bobbie Spencer, and photographer Cindy Mudrick. Caleb Rusk will demonstrate chain saw art and Teresa Bell will hold pottery throwing and painting demonstrations.
