General Manager, Director
2013 to Current: General manager, program director and original designer and petitioner to the FCC for Mill City Community Radio KYAC LPFM. Trainer of DJ's and programmers, audio engineer and technician, community grants coordinator for station, 5 day a week morning show host and director of youth in broadcasting programs. Director of remote broadcasting programs. Repair and maintenance of most electronics relative to radio station operation.
2007 to Current: Videographer and producer of CCTV content for the city of Stayton, Stayton Cooperative Telephone Company and independent producer of community videos. I have attended and recorded and made available city council meetings for Stayton, Sublimity and Lyons. In addition to special videos of Town Hall Meetings, arts and cultural programs and community events.
2007 to 2011: Designer, engineer and general manager of a LPAM (low power AM radio) community
station for Stayton and Sublimity. Also program director and GM of AM KCKX 1460 for 6 months.
2011 to 2014: Program developer for KMUZ 88.5 & 100.7 FM in Salem. Involved in their startup in 2011 and donated and setup their original broadcast studio in the Williamette Heritage Center in Salem. Hosted their morning drive show Ken Till Ten for several years before moving to Mill City to put KYAC on the air.
1975 to 2013: Owner, operator and Luthier of Cartwright's Music Repair shop. Starting out in Coos Bay Oregon and ending in Salem and then Stayton Oregon. Building, repairing and restoring string musical instruments as well as teaching repair and music. All aspects of retail and customer service.
I have been a musician since 1954 and still perform and teach guitar, mandolin, upright bass, fiddle and Dulcimer. Was a radioman in the US Navy from 1963 to 1965. I have served on many nonprofit boards as well as the current Santiam Hearts to Arts. Still do stringed instrument repair work part-time from my home.
